How do I play Strands?

Read the theme clue, then trace letters on the 6 by 8 board to form words related to that theme. Consecutive letters must touch horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. You may change direction while tracing, but you cannot use the same tile twice in one word. Tap the letters in order or drag across the path, then press Check word to submit it.

What is the spangram?

The spangram is the special word that captures the puzzle's theme. Its path touches two opposite sides of the board. It is highlighted differently from the other theme words after you find it.

How do I earn a hint?

Find three valid extra words that are not among the theme answers. The bonus-word meter tracks your progress. When you have earned enough bonus words, the Hint control becomes available and highlights the path of an unfound answer.

Do incorrect guesses use up a turn?

No. An invalid path does not consume a limited number of guesses. Adjust the path, clear it, or try another sequence of adjacent letters.

Can I play another Strands board?

Yes. Today's board is the shared daily challenge. Use the practice control to load another board without replacing your daily puzzle.
